You gate in, and for a second it seems as though the field is only half-loaded. You pause, but no additional content loads. It appears to be perpetually dusk, and a spattering of stars peak through the sunlight peaking over the horizon. Patterned grey stones make up a large square platform. There are no walls as far as you can see. A layer of dust covers the stones, with the exception of a circle disturbed by your arrival.

Fuck the what? This wasn't how maps are... This game tended to give more beautiful things. Maps that had detail in them. I mean, sure, some of them had the same details and ideas used over and over again, but this wasn't even... I mean... what was this? It's just... while it does hold a nice feel to it, the map itself nearly looks, dare I even use the word, half-assed.
But on the other hand, the half-loaded part gives it quite a bit of mystique, and nearly reflects an unknown, forbidden part of the game that I want to look into, the whole reason why I'm here. The area itself, how it's set up, for some reason, reflects right to me, and cuts me to my core. But that's being poetic. Whatever is here isn't too bad when brought up with the rest of the game... There's just so little here. I mean, even the barren fields have details like the old train station and giant dead hands... but here... it's not really much, although it's interesting.
"What's going on here..."

Alexei's form appeared into the field. It was a traditional entrance, accompanied by gold rings. He didn't know why his system would act 'normal' on some days, and then other days he would gate in toward the middle of the field. With the King taking up space, he felt like there was no company to complain to – to get errors fixed. Everyone just had to suck it up and deal with it. He stood there for a few minutes, surveying the field with his eyes. It appeared as if this place was glitchy, too. Lately, he had been running into a lot of these bugs and errors. He was beginning to think someone was stalking him, playing a cruel joke. Glancing at the platform, he looked around.
There was a really bad feeling about this place. Just ahead of him, he noticed another player and stared at them questionably. Perhaps this person was to blame for the broken field.

The stones immediately next to the gate-in point began to raise and lower themselves slightly. An octagonal prism rose from the floor between the two players and gradually continued until it was chest high. The rumbling grind of stone-on-stone ceased, and an eerie silence settled in.

I turned around, and what do I see? Oh, it's another person... Well that's just great. This guy may ruin the investigation, but... bah, what's the worst. For now, half of me is kinda... well, unclear due to the amount of black smoke I'm giving off. Makes it fun, though. I'll keep it. He could help with some fighting. I opened my mouth to speak, but then the ground rumbled.
Niiice, looks nice... Now this place is getting really interesting. This is an obvious sign that the front top of this stage was intentionally left glitchy. The real works are hidden underneath us. That'll be great. "Now I can get to work..." Completely ignoring Alexei again, I ran my hands against the prism, and examined it as closely as possible. Maybe I'll have to get some old tools out to break into this little gem...

Alexei took a small step back when the ground started to rumble, watching as the stone shifted. Soon enough, a prism had rose between him and the stranger. He glanced at it. Alexei was never the type to reach out and grab the unknown, he had this idea that if he worked carelessly – careless things would end up happening. Perhaps that is why he relaxed when the stranger went to feel up the prism. At least he could factor himself out of it, for now. The last time he had done any 'puzzle' pieces, was with Larien, and that episode in the game had been difficult for him. Perhaps he wasn't made for thinking, but just for fighting.
The stranger said nothing to him, and he echoed the silence, keeping to himself. Alexei had this strange feeling they would either end up working together, or fighting.

The caress of the player's hands against the stone made its shroud of dust fall away. A hum of power rose softly into the air, along with the smell of ozone. The engravings glowed as they were touched, then faded back to dark. On the top face of the prism were arranged in concentric circles. The sides each had a different set of symbols, each set being dissimilar to the next, almost like instructions.

Oho~ This thing is actually pretty interesting now... The runes are quite a treat, they almost seem to be like written language, though I have no idea what they are, what they resemble, or if they mean anything to me. As if the writer was so vague in his posts that the true function bled out over time. OOPSY ME DID I SAY THAT OUTLOUD? Silly me, breaking the f-It looks nice, for sure. I wonder how one can see what they were meant to say... and if I can break deeper into this world's history.
I look around for more visual cues and changes, but then I notice this other dude now. As if I had never even noticed him in the first place, I give a nice smile and speak. The voice must have been warbly and slightly warped due to this image of unknown identity. "Why hello, there! It's dreadfully odd yet lucky for me to have found a partner in crime~ Any idea what to do with this little prism? Hmm?"

Alexei watched as the prism reacted to the stranger's hands. He was half-expecting the thing to react and attack the unknown PC, but it didn't. Instead he got a little closer, turning his head to the right to give the stranger a light smile. He hated being forced into acting like one of those 'social' characters who logged into places, to meet friends – to talk. Alexei had felt there was something wrong with this field, and being a long time player of [The World]; he felt like he had to go check it out. How he knew these things were beyond him. Dropping his gaze to the top of the prism, he noticed a sort of language inscribed there.
Alex's motioned his mouth, as if he was capable of reading it – or like he was trying to pronounce the gibberish below. Then the stranger spoke to him, and his gaze flickered back. Personally, he wanted to take the prism and throw it across the field. But he had an inkling that was an irrational thing to do in a time, and place like this. “Not a clue, as far as luck – I am its enemy,” he grinned, being extremely honest. They would definitely have to work together to come up with something.
As he looked closer, he noticed they were symbols. Now he was curious as to what each symbol looked like. Like a picture game.

A moon rose above them suddenly as if a cloud moved out of the way. A wall rose rapidly on the edges of the platform, holding the same pattern of stonework as the floor. The walls quickly blocked out all the stars and only the moon was visible above them. The dark stonework seemed to reach all the way to the moon. In the distance, a bell tolled three times, echoing down the chamber walls. The inner of three rings of circles on the pedestal prism glowed brighter, then went dark. One of the symbols lit, then went dark. Then another. Then a third, almost like a countdown. The pattern continued.

Oh Lord. God. Buddha. Ame no Uzume no Mikoto no whatever. Oh hell the fuck yeesssss. This place is screaming my name. I love it I love it I love it. Just look at it. This thing oozes of my ilk, and I'm happy to lick it off the walls and dig into this little gem of a meal that is known as Illusionary Distant Castle. In hindsight, the illusion part was pretty obvious when there was no real castle. Distant... well, the moon seems distant. But that's about it. Loving it. Loving it all.
"Quite beautiful, should I say so myself. Stick around our little prism here, see what other mysteries it has. I think this simple chamber is only a part of the full structure. I'm going to check out our new house here." And just like that, it's off to the floor and walls to see our little stones. Maybe they hold similar patterns. Or perhaps the moon itself is a clue to powering this already mysterious illusion. Loving it so much. Once I can bite into the raw coding, I'm snatching a piece to play with myself.

He watched as the walls came up, exposing nothing but a moon. It became difficult to focus on the prism, now that they were sort of trapped in an awkward dwelling. But he continued to watch the pattern, and it reminded him of a clock. Like they had some sort of time they had to beat before it ran out and destroyed the place. The foreboding feeling didn't fit well with him, and he slowly watched as the stranger moved to wander and have a look around. Bells began to chime, implying they had to be off – to do something, but what was it? Usually, in the modern world, there was a switch a person could pull. But this entire field felt medieval, a place that required a healthy logic and thought process. Alexei didn't fall into either of those categories.
So, he played his part and stuck next to the prism as the other player went to gander. A sign escaped him, a little uncomfortable with the fact they could no longer sees stars. It felt like a trap if anything.

On the wall near UFO, a single square with an ankh in it glows, almost as if it begs to be pressed.

The air pressure changed, pressing in on them. Near the button, a long row of the floor tiles drop abruptly down, forming stairs down into the darkness below. Along the side of the tunnel you can see vines peaking around the edges of some of the blocks. These vines, visible due to their bio-luminescence, lit the way below. The passage gradually curved away from vision.
The bell tolls four times and other three walls fall away, the stars returning to complement the moon. The light pacing around the top of the pedestal stopped on the face closest to the passageway. The side panel lit, it's writing blurs, glitches, and then resets itself to japanese text. It shows, in sequence, a number of symbols, each representing an element. "Fire" "Water" "Earth" "Wind" and "Sky" On the same wall as the button, four identical doors appear in a blur of code. They are simple red wooden doors with brass doorknobs.

Oh, would you look at that. Lots and lots of oddities going on here. I KNEW the thing went underground though. That's a nice thing. Well then, maybe I can predict the future events as well. Would be nice if I could have a tiny advantage like that but oh well. Not like anything else can happen. My main concern would be these symbols. Fire - hi. Water - sui. Earth - chi. Wind - kaze. Or was it fu? Sky - Kara. An interesting thing is that Sky also means empty, but that's probably useless for all of y'all. But let's get back to it.
"We'll be going in to our little tunnel, non? I have the slightest feeling that we'll have to go through these places over and over again. But if this is our fun little castle, I see no problem with getting aquainted with it. Now chop chop. i believe we'll be going into fire first. Prepare yourself..."
Well I JUST got my water skill, so I'm happy enough. Wonder if we'll be prepared for the other areas... Eh, probably not.

Alexei watched as the atmosphere changed. The symbols, they meant nothing to him. He has a character with little to no knowledge when it came to Japanese Kanji, so he looked to the stranger in the field. The stranger began to talk about fire, and Alexei didn't reply. It always happened this way, him getting stuck in situations that made no sense to him. He began to walk to the edge of the passageway that led down into stairs. The doors were on a different level, with those symbols, so he doubted actually opening one up would resolve anything. So, if this stranger wanted to deal with a door – he could, but Alexei was more inclined to go down the stairs. Unless this stranger had implied that the tunnel led into something with fire-habits, then it made sense.
“Whatever you say, boss,” he played along. Without much thought, and with some impatience, Alexei began to descend the stairs.

At the bottom of the stairs was an unusual room. The walls of the room were lined with shelves, filled with books and various magical objects of unknown purpose and origin. A marble fireplace with a roaring fire cast flickering shadows all over the room. In one corner sat a bird perch. A bird, one meter in length, sat on it. As players descended, the bird cocked his head and looked at the stairwell curiously.

Now looky here~! This is QUITE a nice room for me, infact. Lots and lots of nice little doodads and fun books. Of course, I'm not reading any of them just yet. Right now was not the time to look at them. But instead, I'm paying attention to these magic tools~! Oh and the bird. But the bird for now, is not of real importance. 100 GP in the pot that our little bird fellow here turns into something nasty or good and helps us continue our little journey.
You know, this place looks pretty neat. I'm definitely starting to nab some ideas here for the guild. What kind should I have... well the illusion at the beginning was definitely something to have. A nice illusion for first time members. It'll fit with our name. Nunquam Illuminati. Yeah, that'll be good... what else does this place have, hmm? Ought to be quite interesting and fun.
"Well let's get to it," I muttered under my breath before turning to Alexei, "Nice looking place. I think I'll place this area as my @home for the guild... Saaaay, remind me about the guild. Maybe I could use you in it. It's rather empty as is, afterall."
