As he came to the room, he noticed a row of books and a bird. Something about the bird made him unsettled. Perhaps he had an irrational fear of them – there was a movie on it, wasn't there? Birds started to randomly attack people left and right, pecking out their eye balls. He had hoped that wasn't the case with this one, but in [The World], birds could do anything they wanted. Sometimes he had wished he had a bow and arrow, he would shoot the bird in the head. But that might have been an illogical action, the bird may as well be apart of this trial they had gotten into. The stranger's voice reached him and he turned his head. Talking about a guild.
It had been ages since he heard of things like that. He thought guilds had been taken out of the game for sure. Alexei had never been in one before. “And what does your guild do?” he asked, knowing that this stranger probably had no idea that Alexei was known for a short circuit – he would probably end up slaughtering his guild mates and forgetting it about the next day. But this was a chance that the stranger had to take.
Moving forward, he got a little closer to the fire place, waiting for the stranger to explain his agenda. Of course, he kept the bird in the corner of his eye.

The bird puffed himself up a little to look more regal than he had appeared before. The feathers in the center of his forehead stood up as if he wore a crown, and his tail, which had been draped next to him across the perch, fell down gracefully. The flowing plumage seemed to catch the fire's light. He looked at the players expectantly.

I sigh as I look at this new bird. What's up with it? Does it want to fight, or does it want to help? There's really no idea and I really couldn't care less at some point. Is it a phoenix? Well, then it would be a bother to f- No wait I have Rue Circuit. No, it would be too easy, I suppose. Especially considering how I can fly as well. But it's such a pain to fight... sigh...
It's funny how one thing like that can be so different at times. Transformation into a different form seems so common these days, it's as if everyone doesn't want to be themselves. Well, that's what this game is for... Everyone in this game can change, and no one knows their true form... Just like me... I growl and lowly mutter, "Mendokuse..." Author's Note: "Mendokuse" means "What a Pain". I set down the small object I had in front of me and continued forwards to the bird.
"Little One, we are travelers seeking the Truth. Perhaps you may help us continue deeper?" Asking a bird. Whoo. Maybe the bird will get us through. For some reason, it does seem very phoenix-like. On the other hand, we know absolutely nothing, and we may have just sprung our deaths.... God good, it's all so frustrating...
Gotta make use of what we seem to have. We may not have anything soon enough.

The stranger, who had yet to introduce himself, went to speak to the bird. It appeared as though the other player had temporarily forgot the mention of their guild. If they weren't going to press on it, neither would Alexei. Instead, his eyes shifted to the animal that sat there. Glancing at the bird, he noticed its gaze – an expectant one. The stranger next to him always seemed to be a set ahead by speaking to it, so he offered nothing to help with their forced journey. After all, Alexei appeared to be the lesser being at knowledge. He was, after all, always a fighter at heart.

The bird's tail shifted, catching a spark, and suddenly the creature was engulfed in a orange burst of flame, and took flight, hovering in front of them for a moment, then taking a bipedal form. The female shape continued to burn vigorously.
"What do you seek to find here?," the creature asked.

Well that was an interesting trick from our little bird friend here, but that really didn't do much. Seems like this little tweety is our ticket out and in around here. Well shit man, if all we're gonna have is a burning Navi, I would have placed my luck on a different door. Bah, either way, looks like we don't have any other choice. Better go through with this. I guess we have no choice.
This avian beauty isn't the only one with magical transforming powers. In a sudden rush of black breeze, I'm gone for a split second, reappearing in a different appearance.

He wasn't sure what made him jump. Was it the shifting of the bird, or the other player next to him? Alexei felt himself stumbling back into the shelf behind him, a few books falling on his head and then down to his feet. One of them were spread open, face down. Alexei looked at the figure that burned in the flames, unsure if he should be concerned with the book when more pressing matters were at hand. The stranger was quick to ask a question, and Alexei gave a dull look. He really was useless. It wasn't like he was searching for anything, or for power, he merely got tangled in this mess by logging into the dang field. He jokingly wanted to say he was looking for a hot burrito, or some type of food, but the surge of energy coming off of the fire kept him from saying something dumb.

The books that had fallen were various leather bound volumes, some with gold trim, others with tassel bookmarks. About 20 books had fallen in a pile, throwing a cloud of dust up from the floor.
The figure paused and looked them over carefully, putting what looked like a hand on what looked like its hip. "That doesn't even sound like a real answer. Why did you come down here and wake me up? I was having such a lovely nap here by the fire and you come traipse-ing in here and start knocking things over. Truth? What do I look like, the Wizard? Well, i suppose I do now... but that's beside the point. If you don't want anything," looking at Alexei, "then please pick up my books, put them back on the shelf, and let me rest." She crossed her arms.

"Sassy little bugger, aren't cha... Alright, something more specific if you so want." I crossed my arms, and swallowed the candy in my mouth. Oh, come on, it's absolutely nothing, swallowing stuff like that. Anyhow, back to the point. "We got in here by a sort of odd accident but in a sort of brave adventurous way. Not that you'd care in any sense, but we'd like to know how we can get deeper into this place. Exploring, that's what we're here for. That and maybe an exitway for later. Is that too much to ask for, milady?"

Alexei watched the figure get a little upset by their presence, or rather the lack of reason. The stranger explained it instantly, while Alex had to deal with being bossed around. What a woman, fire, thing! And all he could do was look at the books as if they were laced with venom. Shrugging his shoulders, he bent his knees so that he could scoop up the books in his arms. There were three, and he looked at the covers curiously. Paying no attention to the bossy lady, he opened the cover of the first book closest to him.

Before reading on, click this and allow it to play in the background: linkAs the cover of the book was opened, a faint sound of music could be heard in the room, growing louder. In one corner of the room stood a piano, covered in piles of books. The detail-less silhouette of another figure had appeared and begun to play. The smell of the book's aged paper wafted over Alexei as he began to read the precise curved hand-written words. As the music reached a new height, the sentences on the pages began to lift and float around his head before dissolving into code. The words told the story of how this wizard and his lost love. The wizard's love was taken from him and all he could do was play the song. The notes had a powerful effect on those who heard them, Their avian host turned to look at the piano-playing silhouette almost as if in a trance. A few tears fell from her face like sparks, landing at her feet. Standing there for what felt like an eternity, she simply listened. She reached out a hand towards the other figure but then drew it back. Her fists clenched in anger. "I told you to pick up my books, not to read them! If I could put them away myself I would."
