There she laid, there on her back, so fitting against the black sand that her body gently settled into; she laid there close to the gentle waves that met the beachhead, the crystal clear water reflecting the light of the blazing sun up ahead so beautifully. It was a beautiful scenic field, a nostalgic one for those who have been around for way too long. There was a gentle sigh that had escaped the pale lips of the pale girl all dressed in black hues, those emerald green eyes piercing through the sky box that hung overhead.
What was with all of the black in that avatar anyways? Who was the player? Were they twelve?
That body twisted, stretching gently in the sand to relax all of the muscles that had grown sore from the static position she had taken up on the beach. The time she had spent there was unknown to her, it just seemed to ticker through her life in overdrive. There was nothing left to this world - Her world - of [The World].
What was this void doing here?

Avarice glanced around as she made her way forwards. She wasn't very acquainted with this place -- you could say she was a little new, though unfamiliar described it more. Ahead was the beach, where she could sight-see. Really, her mind had been fuzzy and scrambled recently, and she found herself unsure of what she was doing before. It gave her a sinking feeling in her chest not knowing what she had been doing up until now.
A silhouette of black stuck out in the color of the sand and the sky. Seeing such a lack of hue had reminded her of the completely white attire she wore. Purple hair, tied into a single ponytail also accompanied her. Purple obviously wasn't a natural hair color, it made her wonder why she had ever thought purple would look good as a hair color.
her feet never ceased to move herself closer to that black figure laying in the sand, and before Avarice was ready, she was standing only a yard away. A long, drawn out sigh came from her nostrils, unsure of what to say. Everything felt foreign to her, but it was more so the feeling of ignorance that gave weight to her. She scratched her head in ponder.
What to say, what to say?

There was someone else in the field, someone else who was approaching her, yet DX didn't bother to get up and put herself in a defensive position. All she did was lay there as if nothing mattered, as if there was no threat, as if she lived in the perfect world. [The World] was a safe haven for many, that perfect world everybody had always asked for; there was so much here once upon a time for everyone, all that remained now was an empty void that was comparable to DX's existence.
There were no words that were given, no acknowledgement or friendly advice, all she continued to do was lay there whilst she kept to herself. Those green eyes of hers shut gently behind the pale lids that kept them safe from the reality around her. It was easy to get lost in games, games are a form of escapism; everybody dreamed of being the hero of their own world.
DX was an anti-hero at best,

And... nothing. She had the strangest feeling that she was being shunned already, but Avarice went against that. She came closer, standing beside her. Glancing down, she could see her eyes shut, like she was sleep. Avarice doubted that slumber was the case, she was getting an aloof vibe from her. Not everyone was friendly, anyways, but she hadn't seen anybody else for some time now. Avarice looked up to the sky, stretching herself out as her arms reached for the sky up above and she stood on her toes. Her arms fell back down to her sides and both soles of her feet were planted afterwards.
"Woman of few words?" she inquired with a mutter. After all, she wasn't a talkative person either. Some people could go on for hours just talking, dominating the conversation, but not her. Maybe that was a bad thing, though? Avarice was unsure of if it even mattered or not. She didn't mind it if people didn't let her know what occupied their mind, she was guilty of the same thing. Even with past or present friends. Keeping her friends distant from her own problems and opinions might have been worse for her than they made it appear, though. Her mind was like a big bottle of concealed matter, and it hadn't bugged her until now.

There was that quiet piano playing in the background of the empty darkness of her own mind, those words sliding along the walls of her skull like tendrils desperately looking to drag her consciousness down into the nothingness in which they came. It was a bad feeling, a sickly sort of feeling, a feeling that DX didn't really know how to explain to herself or justify. She were a lot of things in that moment in time, she was especially seething deep down on the inside, writhing in ways she never thought she could. It was funny to her in some backwards sort of humor sort of way, it was absolutely adorable just how quickly she had found herself melting into a big pile of fury. It didn't show on her face however, nothing ever showed on her face, she was as monotone as anyone could ever be.
This other player that had approached her, some no name whom she had never witnessed exist before, had come up and opened that dirty mouth of hers to say words that DX really did not care to hear. Our dressed-in-black was polite about the way that she did not respond to the female's presence, she didn't stir in the least as she laid there on her back in that sand that hugged her body so. The sound of the waves crashing made her mind feel lost at sea, brought her to a sort of peace you'd expect someone to find when they come clean with themselves that they'll never make it back to shore; that they will never make it back home.
Where was home for her? Did she even have a home?
Home could be defined as a structure, a building that an individual resides in. It can also be said that a voice, the soft caress of an embrace, was home. Another existence, another living and breathing creature, could be called a home to some. Home, much like love, never could be defined like all of the other words in the dictionary. DX couldn't fathom the idea of truly comprehending the idea of either of those notions, she couldn't dive into such stupidity head first.

Still, there was nothing.
She could see that this person wasn't dead. Sleeping sounded iffy, she was going to go with shun. The disapproval of acknowledging her. She looked like she could be dead, but being fooled by the pale skin was something for more naive observers. Twas like she wanted to reserve herself for other people, pushing out the strangers by pretending they don't exist. Another drawn out sigh escaped from her nose.
"Since that's the way it's gonna be..." That last word had been just as drawn out as her sigh, Avarice shrugged. She spun around to face the other direction for a second. Looks like there was nothing here after all. With that established, she went on her way. And so she walked, going back from whence she came. There had to be more to visit, other beings to find.

DX didn't know at the time where the other female was going but what she did know was that she did not give a damn about it! What she also knew was that the other would be back again, that she would waltz right back over to DX who laid there so soundly on the ground underneath the empty blue sky above only to try and initiate contact once more. There was nothing for the other to find in this field, nothing for the other to find in this world, [The World] was over and done with and no one or no thing would ever bring it back from the grave. What in the hell were the servers still doing up anyways? DX didn't understand it at all, she figured that everyone had simply just let go of the past and all of the memories that [The World] had.
Apparently not everyone had abandoned ship however, some people even still found their way into this mess for the first time; what a shame, she would think to herself, it was too bad that they had missed the life of the party. Could DX atone for the things she had done in the past or speak for what had really gone down so many years ago? Where was she when all of the servers went offline? Where was she when [The World] was sucking players into its reality and leaving their poor bodies in comas? Where was she when all of the world watched [The World] slowly leak out into places it should not have belonged? Did she even exist at all? Who was she and where did she come from?
DX could have possibly been only a side character. She probably was someone whom didn't matter in the least. An individual with no name, no purpose, no point in this world.

Ahead, forwards, what lied ahead. It happened to be nothing. She had that small hope that there were still things to see, but still in truth she had expected just as much as she had gotten gotten. Nothing. Still, her feet carried her onwards. Onwards until she would reach the end, or perhaps the beginning. Wherever she planned to go, it was the edge -- maybe the world looped, and she would arrive back at that beach somehow?
Eventually, she came to another beach. Instead of any people here, aloof or not, there was only murky water and rock formations that littered the shoreline. Compared to the other side, this place was very dirty. That other beach had very clear water, while with this one you probably couldn't see your hand if you stuck it underneath the surface. What had caught her eye most of all, though, was a cave opening that sloped downwards.
Avarice gawked inside the cave from it's entrance, the strange lighting and path intriguing her. It was almost as if something could be in there -- but was there really? She didn't know, but at least it would take her further. And so Further she went, taking a waltz in and heading down the slope. Twas a narrow pathway of caked rock that she went through, until she came into a much larger room after making a sharp right and then a sharp left, like two swerves.

As quickly as the purple haired character had entered DX's life she had quickly left it in a very anticlimactic way. DX really could have cared less at the brief interaction she had with another as rare as that was these days, she was happy to have her moment back to herself. In that mentality of hers, in those deep and longing thoughts, she was too busy recalling upon a place and time that nobody but her really cared for anymore.
Avarice was on her way into the unknown, traveling away from DX and her former location and into the distance at her own pace. Unknowingly to Avarice she had somehow shifted from the field that she had originally entered, she had phased into an area that shouldn't exist in [The World]. It was one of those locations, those chewed up and out-of-place locations that shouldn't exist within the game's coding. The signs were all there to tell that where she had landed, that change she had just experienced, was one she really should run away from as fast as those feet and her stats could carry her. What did Avarice really know about any of that though? She was new to [The World], she was late for the party, but it would appear that the party was still going on in the back!

At first, it looked like the room sloped downwards below, but this wasn't so. Looking over the steep edge, she could see that it was a straight drop down the the floor below. How far down was it, though? An eerie mist had masked just how deep it would go. Not only that, but many rocks had formed different imitations of bridges, each leading to another part of the cave. It looked a lot like it was designed to take her to the bottom, to which it probably did. She could see the faint silhouettes in the mist until it became too think to see passed. It would definitely be something abnormal if it weren't for the loud sound of running water she could hear. Maybe there was a river at the bottom? Could it be a waterfall, maybe?
Her premonition was screaming out to her with peril. But despite such a sensation, she didn't want to go back. What else was there, anyways? On the other end there would just be the same nonchalant ninny that neglected her approach. When you're by yourself, things aren't fun unless they have some risks. At least, that's what Avarice chose to believe. Looking to her right, she saw a threshold that could bring her to a new room. Judging on what she could see on the way down, there would probably be on of those bridges soon. Why loiter here, then? It was just a little musky in texture, but the air was ever so bearable. She journeyed through the door-like threshold in the wall.
